Bethpage, New York – The Long Island Association (LIA) board this week announced its election of Kirk Kordeleski, President and CEO, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, to Chairman of the Long Island Association. Long Island’s leading business and civic organization, the LIA is dedicated to leading and unifying the Long Island region, its businesses and almost three million residents.

In his new position, Mr. Kordeleski will provide vision and leadership to the LIA and its members, to help Long Island’s business communities and regional initiatives thrive and prosper. “Our main priority is to promote the success of business on Long Island, to grow jobs and to build economic development opportunities,” said Kirk Kordeleski in his address this week at the LIA’s annual meeting held at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. “The LIA will work to provide our members with a platform to utilize their vision, ingenuity and skills to improve Long Island’s business climate for companies large and small.”

An active member of the Long Island Association, Kirk Kordeleski previously served on its Executive Committee and was First Vice Chair of the Board of Directors since 2009. Mr. Kordeleski also served on the Selection Committee for the new Long Island Association president, a position now held by Kevin S. Law. In 2005, Mr. Kordeleski took a leadership role with respect to Workforce Housing initiatives on Long Island as Chairman of the LIA’s Next Generation Housing Committee.

In addition to his new position as Chairman of the Board of the LIA, Mr. Kordeleski serves on Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano’s Business/Economic Development Group and was recently invited to be a member of the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council’s Infrastructure Work Group. Kirk also sits on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Arts Alliance and serves as Chairman of the Board of Project GRAD Long Island. Kirk additionally sits on the Council of Advisors for the Community Development Corporation of Long Island and Council of Overseers for the Tilles Center.

Kirk Kordeleski became the third CEO in Bethpage’s history on January 27, 2000, and Bethpage was approved for the largest federal community charter in the U.S. in September 2003. Today, membership is now open to nearly all those who live, work, worship, go to school or regularly conduct business in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
