Uniondale, NY – “Nursing” is the latest focus in the award-winning series, Exploring Critical Issues, conceived and hosted by Adelphi University President Robert A. Scott. Known for its School of Nursing, Adelphi University has been offering accredited nursing degrees since 1944.
“Nursing is no longer a profession symbolized by a lady with a lamp — in fact, a growing percentage of today’s nursing school applicants are male,” said Dr. Scott. “In this hour-long program, my guests and I explore the nursing profession in light of new technologies and skills, changes in the delivery of health care in America, and the education and training of future nurses.”
The hour-long “Nursing” broadcast will air over two weeks, beginning March 24 as follows: Saturdays, March 24 and March 31 at 10:30 p.m.; Sundays, March 25 and April 1 at 7:00 a.m.; Mondays, March 26 and April 2 at 10:30 p.m.; and Fridays, March 30 and April 6 at 1:00 p.m. “Nursing” can be viewed on Cablevision channels 29 (Long Island) and 137 (Connecticut and NY area outside of Long Island), Verizon FiOS channel 296 (including NY and Fairfield, CT) and simultaneously online at www.telecaretv.org.
Dr. Scott leads the discussion with studio guests: Dr. Patrick Coonan, RN, Dean and Professor of Nursing at Adelphi University; Eileen Williamson, RN, MSN, Senior VP & Chief Nurse Executive, NURSE.com; Joseph J. Tomaino, MS, RN, Executive Vice President, Continuing Care Division, Catholic Health Services of Long Island; Dr. Patricia Donohue-Porter, RN, Director of the Ph.D. Program, School of Nursing, Adelphi University
Seen by over seven million households, Exploring Critical Issues has earned three Telly Awards, the cable equivalent of the Emmy.
As the engaged University, Adelphi is proud to sponsor Exploring Critical Issues to provide scholars, advocates, and other distinguished guests with a forum in which to explore critical local, regional, national, and global topics, such as the environment, health, business, the arts, politics, law, and government regulations.
