(Uniondale, NY) –  The award-winning series, Exploring Critical Issues, conceived and hosted by Adelphi University President Robert A. Scott, is scheduled to broadcast its focus on “Emergency Management” for two weeks beginning April 14.

Adelphi University, one of the few institutions of higher learning to offer degrees in Emergency Management including a Graduate Emergency Management Certificate degree program, a national online degree in Emergency Services Administration and a M.S. degree in Emergency Management, saw the need for professionals in business, insurance, health care, travel and tourism, education and public service to be trained in responding effectively to emergency situations.

“The reporting and sending of images from disaster sites is instantaneous, leaving us all to wonder how we’d possibly respond as quickly to protect our family, a home, or business in an emergency — whether natural disaster, health epidemic, or an accident like Chernobyl,” said Dr. Scott.  “But there are steps to take to recover a business shut down by flooding or for setting up a communication chain in advance of unforeseen catastrophes such as an act of terrorism.”

The hour-long “Emergency Management” broadcast will air over two weeks, beginning April 14 as follows:  Saturdays, April 14 and April 21 at 10:30 p.m.; Sundays, April 15 and April 22 at 7:00 a.m.; Mondays, April 16 and April 23 at 10:30 p.m.; and Fridays, April 20 and April 27 at 1:00 p.m.  “Emergency Management” can be viewed on Cablevision channels 29 (Long Island) and 137 (Connecticut and NY area outside of Long Island), Verizon FiOS channel 296 (including NY and Fairfield, CT) and simultaneously online at www.telecaretv.org.

Dr. Scott leads the discussion with studio guests sharing their expertise across business, healthcare and education:  Mr. James Barber, CEO and Founder, RMI Consulting; Ms. Meghan McPherson, Center for Health Innovation, Adelphi University; Dr. Patrick Coonan, Dean, School of Nursing, Adelphi University; and Mr. Vincent Fusco, Regional President, Allstate Insurance.

Seen by over seven million households, Exploring Critical Issues has earned three Telly Awards, the cable equivalent of the Emmy.

As the engaged University, Adelphi is proud to sponsor Exploring Critical Issues to provide scholars, advocates, and other distinguished guests with a forum in which to explore critical local, regional, national, and global topics, such as the environment, health, business, the arts, politics, law, and government regulations.
