Costanzo Recognized for Growing Purolator International in the United States
JERICHO, NY – Purolator International President John Costanzo has been named by Long Island Business News as one of the 2014 Outstanding CEO Award winners. Costanzo was honored for his direction and leadership, helping Purolator International grow its U.S. presence, introduce innovative new services, and achieve superior customer experience ratings. He will receive his award at Long Island Business News’ special gala dinner to be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
Since joining Purolator International in 2001, Costanzo has successfully expanded its corporate footprint from three to 30 U.S. markets, opening 20 new markets since 2010. The company now has branch operations in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville, Newark, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Raleigh/Durham, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Saint Louis.
As a result of its 2010 market expansion, Purolator International has doubled its U.S. sales and increased profits over 30 percent, including the cost of investment in the expansion. Costanzo attributes this in large part to the company’s unparalleled Express delivery network in Canada, his employees’ commitment to providing high quality customer service, other key services such as its LTL and Freight Forwarding services, and the 2013 launch of a new business to consumer Parcel delivery service, PuroPost™.
“I am truly honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Costanzo. “I’m proud of the many accomplishments of Purolator International and our employees. We are now approaching 250 people in the U.S. who work diligently each and every day to make sure our customers shipping and logistics needs are not only met, but exceeded in terms of on-time delivery and the value they receive from Purolator’s services and support.”
Costanzo and his wife, Joanne, live on Long Island and have three grown children. He is an active member of the Long Island community. He serves on the board of the Long Island Association (LIA), which focuses on the growth of Long Island’s economy and businesses. He co-chairs the LIA’s Global NY committee, which is charged with making recommendations to Governor Cuomo’s Regional Development Council for increasing exports from our region. He also spearheaded the development of the Purolator Gives Back (PGB) program to build upon the company’s commitment to helping those in need in the Long Island community. As a natural extension of Costanzo’s position on the board of United Way, Long Island and the company’s support for Long Island Cares, Costanzo and Purolator’s employees volunteer their time to efforts including Operation LIVE UNITED, Kids United Against Hunger, as well as various food and/or goods drives throughout the year.
Long Island Business News created the Outstanding CEO Awards to recognize the business and not-for-profit executives who have consistently demonstrated remarkable leadership skills, integrity, values, vision and a commitment to excellence, financial performance, community and diversity.
