Leading Specialty Retailer Saves 15 Percent on Canadian Transportation Costs
and Increase Shipments to this Market by Partnering with Purolator International
JERICHO, NY – Purolator International, the leading provider of cross-border logistics between the U.S. and Canada, today announces its inclusion on the Supply & Demand Chain Executive “100” – 100 Great Supply Chain Projects for 2014. Purolator International received this honor based on its work with a leading specialty retailer to develop and implement a robust e-commerce solution to Canada focused on the end consumer experience. After partnering with Purolator International, the retailer was able to reduce transportation costs by 15 percent, achieve transit time improvement of 1.8 days, and grow their Canadian marketplace by 10 percent in six months.
With Purolator International’s PuroPost, the retailer’s packages arrive at the border fully compliant with all customs requirements and preapproved for clearance into Canada. Purolator International’s partnership with Canada Post, Canada’s primary mail delivery service, then allows for hassle-free and on-time deliveries to all Canadian residences, including some of the most remote locations and P.O. boxes. Canadian consumers receive their guaranteed on-time delivery from their familiar Canada Post uniformed delivery person.
Beyond on-time delivery, end consumers also benefited from Purolator International’s Beacon system that provides 24/7 real-time remote access of package status, including visibility, tracking, and reporting. This technology helped contribute to the retailer’s improvement in customer satisfaction.
“We thank Supply & Demand Chain Executive for honoring us as one of the top supply chain projects of 2014,” said John Routledge, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Purolator International. “As seen with this retail customer, e-commerce is a driving force in U.S. companies increasing their shipments to Canada. Purolator International has the specialized expertise necessary to make cross border shipments simple, and help ensure that end consumers are satisfied with their online shopping experience.”
