Q&A with Audrey Cohen
Vice President
What got you into the business in the first place?
I always had a love of marketing and began my career while a student at SUNY Albany — in a mall, of all places. No, I wasn’t shopping instead of studying. I planned all events for The Crossgates Mall.
Who was a big influence in your career?
Myself. I didn’t know anyone in PR and wasn’t even sure what it entailed, but once I learned, I was hooked. A good publicist develops strong relationships with clients and the media. As a personable person, I enjoy this. PR also allows me to learn the inner workings of many different industries and the news that surrounds these beats — two factors that have kept me interested in the field for 21 years.
What attracted you to Epoch 5?
Any successful businessperson will tell you that the key to success is to surround yourself with intelligent people.
Do you have a method for coming up with ideas and solutions for clients?
There’s nothing I enjoy more than brainstorming and working with other creative people to help develop strategic, impactful programs for clients.
What was “your finest moment,” the thing you’re most proud of?
Probably when we launched Glacier Bottled Water, which today is better known as Glaceau Vitamin Water. I pitched exclusives to New York Magazine‘s Best Bets and The New York Times — and got them both!
What do you do for a good time when you’re not working?
I spend time with my husband, Larry, and our three beautiful girls, Julia, Miranda and Maisy, our Tibetan Terrier. We hike, bike ride, and do lots of Martha Stewart-ish crafts! I also love to design beaded jewelry and watercolor.
