William Floyd School District: Provided full-service communications program to one of Long Island’s largest school districts, including issues and crisis management, publicity, newsletters, budget campaign and event support. Successfully managed the media covering a number of highly controversial events; achieved a number of high-level placements in Newsday and other outlets.
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory: The lab’s growth and plans for future expansion prompted public officials to impose a moratorium on future building because they felt the campus was already too densely developed. Epoch 5 helped the lab improve its communications with the community and with government officials.
LI School Public Relations Association-Nassau/Suffolk County BOCES: Conducted in-depth seminar-workshop on crisis management and media relations to school public relations officials in conjunction with Nassau/Suffolk County BOCES.
Stony Brook University: Assist the university with community and government relations services to address various issues related to expansion and improvement of the university, including the acquisition and development of a 140-acre research and development campus.
Project GRAD Roosevelt: Designed and implemented a comprehensive communications program for the K-12 education-reform organization working with the Roosevelt Union Free School District and the Roosevelt community. Areas of activity included media relations, community relations, business-to-business communications and events.
Roosevelt Union Free School District: Managed media relations in connection with Superintendent Horace Williams’s announcement that he would end his tenure effective July 2004.
The Long Island Children’s Museum: With Epoch 5’s assistance, the museum became viewed as a regional cultural gem, rather than a local destination. A media blitz for the opening of the new museum included volumes of media coverage in the New York Times, Newsday, New York magazine, Parenting Magazine, Distinction, numerous community newspapers, and electronic media, including four TV stations and three radio stations.
South Huntington School District: Provided strategic consultation following the community’s reaction to the reassignment of Walt Whitman High School’s principal.
Long Island Business Institute: Developed and implemented strategy to increase name recognition and awareness of LIBI’s expanded educational services and course offerings. Strategy included raising the visibility of founder and president, who reported a significant increase in interest from prospective students.
New York Institute of Technology: Engaged by NYIT to create higher visibility and ensure a cross-section of new students. Served as agency of record for public relations, developing a high volume of positive coverage of the college, its people and programs.
Abilities! (Henry Viscardi School at the National Center for Disability Services): Designed and implemented comprehensive communications program for the pre-K through 12 school for children with severe physical and medical disabilities.
Long Island University (CW Post): Supported LIU on a number of noteworthy events of strategic importance, including the sale of its Southampton Campus to Stony Brook University.
Brookhaven National Laboratory: Toxic waste from a nuclear reactor was discovered to be leaking from containment areas and migrating toward the boundaries of the lab’s campus. Epoch 5 developed the strategy and assisted lab officials to begin the process of communicating with the public through press releases, spokespersons, briefings, etc.
St. Joseph’s College: Served as agency of record, working with the Brooklyn and Patchogue campuses to raise the school’s profile and to raise the visibility of the college president.
Touro Law School: Served as agency of record for Touro to build its reputation through highlighting faculty, programs and community activities in the media, developing visibility on both a regional and national basis.
